Checking in on progress doesn’t mean be controlling. Watch for deadline expectations, expenditures, and style requirements. Make sure you manage the project from a big picture frame of mind rather than halt progress by making  mountains of molehills during day to day operations. If you do the research and find good help, you shouldn’t have to do much more than observe and check in.
