The Flower Pail

In case you weren’t aware, Christmas is right around the corner! Don’t worry, Im not going to promote the hottest toys or tell all the men they need to run to the nearest jewelry store. This week it’s all about flowers! Peonies, zinnias, roses, hydrangeas, and of course poinsettias! I know, flowers are not usually associated with Christmas but maybe I can change that! After all, I think everyday should start with beautiful, colorful flowers!

The Flower Pail was opened in 2012 by the current business owners, David and Lara Snyder. Lara gained experience in floral design working with a florist out of Kerrville, and both David and Lara worked at the local “Dodds Nursery” for a while. Now, you can see David delivering fresh arrangements in their hard to miss delivery car! Just look for the bright green PT Cruiser around town! And Lara, well she is usually in the shop knee deep in fresh flowers where she always greets you with a smile!

The shop itself is warm and cozy, and I really like walking in and being able to view pre-made arrangements and fresh cut flowers through the cooler glass. Unlike a lot of buildings here in Fredericksburg that have held many different types of businesses, the building that houses The Flower Pail has always been a flower shop. “Pehl’s Flower Shop” was opened by the Pehl family in the 1970’s, the family lived next door and started selling flowers out of their home before building the flower shop. Mr. Pehl found the shops cooler at another florist that was going out of business. The Pehls ran a successful floral shop, and even added a greenhouse out back. The greenhouse was a kit that could be ordered through a catalogue and the company shipped the materials directly to the shop!

What I love about David and Lara is that they work very hard to be different from other florists. Their clean, simple, elegant and rustic arrangements are always beautiful and heart warming. Plus, anyone who can work mason jars and burlap in with bright, colorful flowers is pretty awesome in my book! The Flower Pail offers a wide variety of floral arrangement options for the Hill Country. Lara and her staff work hard to make each wedding unique by working closely with brides to customize their wedding day flowers, and bouquets. You can also order sympathy flowers to honor those who have passed away. David makes daily deliveries to the local funeral homes and hospital for your convenience. Don’t forget the many unique gift ideas such as blooming plants, fruit baskets, gift baskets, and so much more!
